Shell Brodnax and Templeton Thompson
If you have heard my talk, Make it happen, don’t wait for it to happen”, you know that I do my best to inspire others to accomplish their goals and dreams and I use lots of “horse analogies”. I have loved my journey with horses and every day I learn more lessons on how horses can relate to business and life. So many similarities.
I started to write my own “cowgirl statement”, then I figured someone out there must have done it and I searched around and found Templeton’s song. Templeton wrote the song the Cowgirl Creed, which was inspired by Ellen Reid-Smith’s book, Cowgirl Smarts: How to Rope a Kick-Ass Life, both were a huge inspiration to my speaking platform. I was blown away on how it was fitting into every aspect of my life and my new journey with horses. I even learned to trot listening to the Cowgirl Creed, literally hundreds of times. It seemed like every time I was listening to this song, I had another one of my “yee-ha!” moments. Life fitting for sure!
You all know I am competing in cowboy challenges with my horse Luke. Well, we have a competition this weekend and I just may have to play the Cowgirl Creed while I ride for some added inspiration.
Now for the exciting news!! I was fortunate to meet Templeton at a horse expo recently. It was great to tell her my story in person! I should hire her to write and record my theme song! But, that will have to wait. Until then, here is a great video by Templeton.
